A natural burial and beautiful place for family and friends to visit

Sydney’s first natural burial field is a serene location with rolling lawns and tranquil lake views surrounded by native bushland. The unspoilt nature, with abundance of birdlife, is fittingly named St Francis Field.

A natural burial is in harmony with nature, so the body (or cremated remains) is prepared without chemical preservatives and uses materials from natural fibres and a biodegradable coffin to return to the earth organically.

The habitat will be kept as natural as possible, there are no formal headstones or monuments nor artificial wreathes or tributes. Although graves remain unmarked, each grave is mapped and surveyed using GPS technology to accurately record locations.

A central commemorative feature in sandstone at the entrance to the field records the names of those interred and provides a place for reflection for families. A simple wooden pavilion enables families to conduct a memorial service or simply contemplate the tranquility of the bushland sanctuary.

St Francis Field at Sydney Natural Burial Park offers flexibility and simplicity in burial and funeral service options to reflect the individuality and last wishes of family or friends.

Right of Burial in St Francis Field is granted for 30 years, and can be renewed on expiry. Natural burial graves are intended for two burials and include inscription upon a communal memorial.
